FDA Approval & Tort Reform

Here is a fine article over at Corp Reform - Not Tort Reform which debunks the notion that corporations should be immune from liabilities arising from federally approved products. Will Republicans push to tag such an immunity onto any tort reform package they try to push through? Will Democrats in committee have any negotiating power to limit such measures before the bills get out of committee?

I've watched enough specials, just on PBS' NOW, to be wary of taking any prescriptions for drugs approved in the last 12 or so years. What are the best pressure points to express our outrage at the chummy relationships between the regulators and the regulated? Write Congress; write the FDA; boycott the drugs; protest the pharmaceuticals; demand media attention for the problem? Probably all of the above.
